MAHLER/LÜHL : Piano Quartet
Aged 15, Lühl revised the piano quartet movement composed by Gustav Mahler, corrected and completed the unfinished Scherzo by studying the facsimile from Mahler-specialist Henry-Louis de la Grange (recorded in 2012 by the New-York Piano Quartet). A few years later, he added two more movements in the master’s style, in order to present to the audience a unique complete Mahler-quartet. This piece was first recorded in a double-pack together with his transcription of Mahler’s First symphony for piano solo for the Mahler-Jubilee in 2011.
MAHLER : symphonie n°1 « TITAN » - transcription pour piano seul par Lühl
Lühl's first great work was the piano solo transcription of Gustav Mahler's First symphony at age 14. This task took him then about six months to complette it, but it gave him the essential musical tool for his later mastery in orchestration. Later on, he transcribed Mahler's 5th symphony for piano solo, which will also be recorded to a future date.
